Sno-Isle Libraries

Sno-Isle Libraries is a district that serves Washington State's Island and Snohomish County (excluding Everett and Woodway) through (21 community libraries ), online services, and (Library on Wheels ). Its (strategic focus ) is on literate, economically sound and connected communities.
Sno-Isle Libraries dates from 1944 when the Snohomish County Rural Library District was established by a vote of the residents living in the unincorporated areas of the County. The joint Boards of County Commissioners created the Snohomish-Island Inter-County Rural Library District in December 1962.〔http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20120412/NEWS01/704129903〕 The library Board of Trustees selected the name Sno-Isle Libraries to reflect the common interest of providing quality library services to the residents of both counties.
The library is funded by a property tax levy on all properties in the unincorporated areas of both counties, and cities that have annexed to the library district. Additional support comes from the (Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation ) and (Friends of the Library ).
The Sno-Isle Libraries is governed by a (board of seven trustees ) who are appointed by the Snohomish County Council and Island County Commission to serve for seven years without compensation. The trustees are responsible for approval of the annual budget, as well adoption of policies and regulations governing the operation of the library. The trustees hire the library district director.
(Key facts ) about the district include: it encompasses 2,260 square miles, employs 460, and provides more than 500 public computers for free customer use.
